Q163: Is Cement Naajis?

Assalam ‘alaikum, thanks for all you provide us and may Allah s.w.t. reward you abundantly. Sheikh, my friend is working under tight conditions such that he has no time perform Dhuhr and Asr prayers, he combines them during maghrib, his biggest problem is that he gets dirty as he collects cement, so no water for bathing. I will be grateful for your reply.

Cement is paak. I.e not Najis. Therefore, if it’s on clothes, there is no harm in Wuzu and Salaah. However if it gets stuck to the hands and prevents water from getting to the skin, then this will invalidate the Wuzu. In such cases, he should go to work with Wuzu and try to hold it for Salaah times. Salaah must be performed on time. If not possible, he should find another job.
