Is it necessary to use water for istinja or is toilet paper permissible. Is there more reward in using water or does water also have to be used with using toilet paper to fulfil the ammal of istinja?

Answer

Toilet paper is permissible as long as:

1. The najasat does not exceed the size of a dirham (i.e. a 50p coin).
2. The najasat is what normally comes out.  If it is blood or mazi then water is essential.
