Salaam,

Is it permissible to listen to nasheeds with zikr in the background?

These nasheeds stop me from listening to music, will they be halal?

Answer

The zikr of Allah should be respected.  Mufti Taqi Saheb has issued a fatwa that such nasheeds should not be sung.  However, since they stop you from other stuff, occasionally would be ok.  Listening to Qari Abdul Basit’s qiraat would be more beneficial and rewarding.  Go on You Tube and type in his name – you will be spoilt for choice.
