Q393: Green Imamah

Question

There is certain sect which only wear the green imamah – is this biddah?  As I understood the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam wore many other colours.

Answer

The colours of imamah mentioned in Hadith are, black, White, and cream. I have not come across a Hadith of green imamah. Maybe some people wear it to portray their love for the Prophet asllallahu alayhi wasallam. They keep in their minds the colour of the green  dome.

Bid’at is an addition in deen, if they just wear it without making it compulsory part of deen, it can’t be classed as bid’at, however if
they think this is part of deen, then it will be an addition and could be classed as Bid’ah,
