Q878: Sunnah amount of water in wuzu

Assalaaamualykum,

What is the masnoon amount of water with which our Prophet sallallahualayhi wasallam did wudhu and ghusl with?

I understand there is no fixed amount, just that we should use how much is necessary without doing israaf.

A few measurements have been given, namely, Mudd, Saa’,Faraq and Makook.

But I cant find the measurements in millilitres or litres.

Some places say Mudd = 544ml,
and Saa’= 2176ml.
I have heard Bury Darul Uloom say 850 ml.
Please can you help me with this.
Jazakumullah.

Walaikumissalam w w

The Mudd we have in Darul Uloom is measured at 775ml. These measurements are a guideline. They are the closest we can get to the exact size of mudde nabawi.

The Main aim is to use as less water as possible. It is not Sunnah to do Wudhu from a tap. But it is Sunnah to use a utensil. When you do wuzu from a utensil, you can drink the leftover water as well, which is Barakah.
