What are the reasons for natural disasters?

٥٤٥٠ – وعن أبي هريرة – رضي الله عنه – قال: قال رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم: ” «إذا اتخذ الفيء دولا، والأمانة مغنما، والزكاة مغرما، وتعلم لغير الدين، وأطاع الرجل امرأته، وعق أمه، وأدنى صديقه، وأقصى أباه، وظهرت الأصوات في المساجد، وساد القبيلة فاسقهم، وكان زعيم القوم أرذلهم، وأكرم الرجل مخافة شره، وظهرت القينات والمعازف، وشربت الخمر، ولعن آخر هذه الأمة أولها ; فارتقبوا عند ذلك ريحا حمراء وزلزلة وخسفا ومسخا وقذفا وآيات تتابع كنظام قطع سلكه فتتابع»

Abu Hurairah radiallahu anhu narrates that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:

“1.When Public money is passed around like own money (by the leaders),
2.Trust is taken as booty (i.e. intention is to use it and refuse to return it),
3.Zakat is seen as a penalty,
4.Knowledge of Deen is acquired for reasons other than spreading the Deen
5.A man obeys his wife and hurts his mother,
6.Draws his friends close and distances his father,
7.Voices are raised in the Masaajid,
8.Tribes are led by their wicked,
9.The leader of the community is the most despicable amongst them,
10. A person is respected for fear of his reprisals,
11.Pop stars and musical instruments become widespread,
12.Intoxications are consumed (on a large scale),
13.And the latter of this Ummah curse their formers;

Then anticipate dangerous hurricanes, earthquakes, collapsing of the earth, disfigurement of bodies and faces, raining of stones, and such signs that follow in succession like beads of a necklace when the string is cut and so they (the beads) fall in succession.”
